RURAL SERVICES » Goodin Ag Ltd The quarry operation has grown again this year with the recent purchase of an additional excavator. “Our excavators are proving popular, and they’re doing quite a bit of work on all those little jobs around the place that no one wants to do with a shovel.” Goodin Ag’s fencing division provides another service that has been growing through recent winters. Having fenced for many years with a post rammer, the purchase of a post hole borer allowed Goodin Ag’s fencing to grow to the next level and this service has really taken off in the past five years. Four key staff who are pretty keen on fencing have been completing boundary fencing, riparian planting fencing, and building cattle yards during the winter months, while one is fencing all year round. Fencing is working in really well for Goodin Ag as it’s of those farm jobs that doesn’t need doing straight away, so Mark can work it into that tricky schedule. When Mark took over the business, it was keeping about seven staff on through the winter, and he has added one more to this number every year since. “I’d say with what’s coming up I’ll be adding another one or two people next year, as we work towards keeping close to 20 people all year round in a few years’ time. We want to keep people employed, give them job security, and keep that income coming in all year.” WE’RE PROUD TO GOODINAG LTD TARANAKI 289 Waihi Road, Hawera Office 06 287 0020 Steve Roylance 021 287 5335 SUPPORT Peter Laurence 027 252 2174 Willy Moynihan 027 279 7099 claasharvestcentre.com
