Kelly Deeks A modern agricultural services business founded on old-fashioned values, Kaiser Ag has built a reputation across the Waikato for its reliable service, smart solutions, and a hard-working team that knows how to get the job done right. Based in Walton, halfway between Morrinsville and Matamata, Kaiser Ag is a multifaceted operation supporting farmers with effluent disposal systems, silage contracting, and general agricultural contracting services. At the same time, the wider business, also encompassing Kaiser New Zealand, manufactures industrial vacuum tankers and suction trucks for clients around the country. Manager Hayden Bateman says the business has grown steadily over the years, driven by customer demand and a simple approach: if the Kaiser team can take on more to help streamline things for the farmer, they will. “The business originally started with David Fitzi building vacuum tankers for emptying effluent ponds,” Hayden says. “That was the foundation and from there it slowly evolved. We’ve kept effluent as a big part of what we do but we’ve also moved into silage and general agricultural contracting, and even some council work like clearing pipes and drains.” That evolution has meant Kaiser Ag is now able to offer year-round work for its team, keeping staff in secure employment through both the busy summer season and quieter winter months. “We’ve been able to remain steady even through the recent economic downturn, which is a real credit to the business model. Having both the agricultural side and the tanker manufacturing side gives us that balance.” Hayden says the Kaiser Ag team environment is one of the company’s greatest strengths. “We’ve got a great team of people who all get along and work well together. Most of our core team stays on for at least nine months of the year, and we just bring in a couple of extras from September to early January. It’s a great culture, and I think that flows through into the work we do.” Repeat business from loyal customers is a testament to the quality of service provided by Kaiser Ag, and Hayden says it comes down to a combination of skilled people and quality equipment. “We’ve got great clients who come back to us year after year.
