Based in Gisborne and part of the Power Farming Group, the business has been part of the East Cape landscape since 2005, looking after customers from Wairoa to Opotiki for all their tractor and agricultural machinery needs. Hailing from South Africa and bringing with him an extensive background in the motor industry, Dealer Principal Glen Aspden has been part of Gisborne’s Power Farming team for the last 10 months and is enjoying the opportunity to grow and develop the brand and its reputation. “We have focused on building trust and relationships with our staff, customers and the broader community, and that is now starting to pay dividends. Our core customers include farmers, horticulturalist and lifestyle block owners. Over the last year the Kioti brand of tractor has grown 20% by people buying these little lifestyle tractors.” Located just on the southern fringes of Gisborne, Power Farming stocks a diverse range of new machinery including tractors, cultivation machinery, feed mixers, seeding machinery, grass machinery, crop management machinery, telehandlers and construction machinery. Power Farming’s main tractor brands are DeutzFahr, imported from Germany, and Kioti, imported from South Korea. While Deutz is suited for heavy agricultural work, the Kioti has a centre mounted mower and is more suited to lifestyle blocks. “We’re also importers for the Maschio and Kverneland range of agricultural machinery which includes power harrows, seed drills, mowers, rotary tillers, mulchers, precision planters and hay making equipment. We also import Merlo Telehandlers.” An extensive range of second had tractors and machinery to suit all purposes, budgets and requirements is available while highly skilled heavy diesel technicians look after new tractors and machinery to keep them within warranty. “We also service older tractors and have a whole engineering bay to fabricate parts that cannot be repaired,” says Glen. “We understand the critical importance of keeping our customers productive and provide a eld service with three technicians on the road keeping the clients’ machinery operational. I’ve just employed another service technician who will provide backup service as required.” Glen adds that Power Farming has just acquired the JCB franchise for New Zealand and will be diversifying its portfolio with the opportunity to retail and offer a service to the construction sector.
