Karen Phelps North Otago farmers are increasingly looking for more than products from their rural suppliers - they are seeking trusted advice backed by decades of local experience. That is where North Otago Pastoral Services believes it has built its reputation, combining independent agronomy expertise with an in-depth understanding of the region’s land and farming systems. “Farmers are really looking for sound advice on how to run their farms in challenging economic times. We have been around for years and have the experience and history to provide excellent free agronomy advice so farmers can get the most bang for their buck,” says manager Kelvin Mansfield. Established in 1991 by Barry and Shirley Compton and now owned by DC Turnbull & Co Ltd, the business has spent more than three decades supporting farmers throughout the Waitaki district. Kelvin says the company’s greatest strength lies in the experience of its people and the knowledge they have developed by working alongside local farmers for many years, which allows the company to recommend practical solutions tailored to individual farms rather than offering generic advice. Its agronomists work across dairy, sheep, beef, deer, grain, seed and horticultural sectors, providing guidance on everything from pasture renewal and seed selection to agrichemicals and environmental planning. “With more than 150 years of combined experience across the team, North Otago Pastoral’s field RURAL SERVICES » North Otago Pastoral NORTH OTAGO PASTORAL SERVICES IS NOW A NUTRIEN INDEPENDENT MEMBER.
