While Ben takes care of the design work Todd takes care of project management and running the jobs. “I have also just attained by Quantity Surveying qualifications, so we really have a turn-key company now,” Todd explains. He says having that set of skills enables them to offer firm pricing and more assurance about completing project within budget. “It’s more safety for clients, especially at this time when pricing and materials supplies are uncertain through this Covid and Post-Covid time.” Building new homes is the main-stay, backed up with a joinery division. Todd says that in their region a lot of new land is being opened up for subdivisions. Two staff work in the joinery division and currently seven builders work on sites. Added to this, Grieve Construction has always undertaken work on dairy farms, including dairy sheds as well as farm accommodation. “We started doing a couple of relocatable farm houses to meet a gap in the market,” Todd says. The business has been at the size it is these past 10 years. At its peak, when dairy shed construction was a big part of work, upward of 20 staff worked in the company. Todd says they are keen to strengthen their work using Green Building technologies. “We’ve got a couple of designs that offer clients Green Building standards.
