Karen Phelps Borlase Transport was a winner at the 2022 Top of the South Forestry Awards taking out the Outstanding Health and Safety Management Award. It’s something that company shareholder Steve Borlase says was due to a team effort across the whole company. That’s because Borlase Transport takes a bottom up approach to this vital issue. “It’s important for us to get buy in from all our staff around health and safety and a big part of that is developing a culture where safety is part of our everyday operations and drives good practices,” he says. “When putting together health and safety policies and procedures Borlase Transport seeks input from staff, as they will be the ones at the forefront of enacting things.” As testament to the excellence of its staff Keith Anderson won the Log Truck Driver Excellence award at the 2022 Top of the South Forestry Awards. Steve describes Keith as the consummate professional with a very good work ethic who has been in the industry for most of his working life and has seen many changes, but has adapted to them and risen to every challenge. “Keith has earned gold level status in the Log Transport Safety Council Training Pathway. Most of our staff holds this qualification, many silver or gold level, but we also have three of the nine operators in the country hold platinum level.
