Kelly Deeks N ow under new ownership, irrigation design and installation company Grafton Irrigation is once again a family based business, focusing on the needs of its customers and providing prod- ucts and services that lead the market in innovation and efficiency. James and Jamie Davis, together with Jon O’Sullivan, team up to form the new look Grafton Irrigation, with an emphasis on sustainable, in- novative, and customer focused service to which they are all too familiar with, having provided the services in their respective fields for the irrigation industry for many years. This, along with the expert staff at Grafton Irrigation being able to provide a comprehensive experienced service team support- ing existing and new customers. The business has also gone back to its roots north of Timaru, with a new premises in Washdyke, where the showroom has a fresh and inviting feel. James has been a key part of the Grafton Irriga- tion team since James Davis Contracting Ltd com- pleted the earthworks on a large irrigation project in 2015, and has provided the majority of Grafton Irrigation’s earthworks ever since. Established in RURAL SERVICES » Grafton Irrigation 2001, James Davis Contracting Ltd has completed a large range of on farm projects from conversion’s and major infrastructure to on-farm maintenance, also providing specialised pivot earthworks and border-dike removal. Jon has been in the Irrigation Industry since 2013 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Geol- ogy, a GrowSmart VRI qualification, and a National Certificate in Irrigation Design. He was raised in South Canterbury and has previously worked as an agricultural contractor on large scale irrigation schemes. After shifting premises, James, Jamie, and Jon got busy streamlining their new business, with the three shareholders adapting to their new roles with decisions being made quickly and practically. “Every project now has the benefit of each of our input right the way through,” says James. “With our farming background, and experience in our relative fields we can provide results which suit the farmer, and make their business better.” Grafton Irrigation has been working for some of its major clients for the past 20 years, and this new combination of skills in the drivers’ seats means the company can provide a more comprehensive and efficient range of services, and get to work on them quickly and smoothly. From its main base in Timaru, and service bases in Glenavy and Oamaru, Grafton Irrigation cov- ers a wide region with clients spread from North Canterbury to Central Otago and into the Mackenzie Basin. Grafton Irrigation has the area covered and can provide a quick response to any repair and maintenance issues. Regular scheduled maintenance programmes are offered to ensure the efficient running of irrigation systems and reduce the risk of loss of operation due to breakdowns.
