Two hours scenic drive from Queenstown or Invercargill Airports, Cabot Lodge offers guests a boutique ve-star luxury lled experience in one of the most breathtakingly beautiful and natural locations in the world. “The lodge has been built on a foundation of farming and family values,” says Breidi Alexander, whose parents have owned and farmed Cathedral Peaks Station for over forty years. “We want our guests to feel at home with us and enjoy the comforts of a very special private retreat.” Breidi and her husband Brad moved back to the family farm after leaving successful corporate careers, setting the lodge up in 2018. Already an accomplished home cook, Brad retrained as a chef and now has the esteemed role of chef-extraordinaire and beekeeper. “When you’re at the centre of a working farm on the boundary of the Sounds you have everything on your doorstep from lamb, venison and beef, to fresh Blue Cod, Stewart Island Salmon and Fiordland Lobster,” says Breidi. Encompassing four suites, the lodge accommodates a total of 10 guests, with each suite offering its own special feature to cater for the guests every desire including a private outdoor courtyard, open re place, a private of ce, private dining room or a two-bedroom suite for families. With oor to ceiling windows, every room has a view of the mountains and delightful Lake Manapouri. “The views are always changing,” re ects Breidi. “You have those beautiful blue-sky days where the lake looks almost turquoise and the mountains a very light blue. Then days with snow draping the farm and mountains, or days with a dramatic and moody cloud coming through and the lake looks a dark steely grey.” Cabot Place takes pride of place on Cathedral Peaks Station, a working deer, sheep and cattle farm on Lake Manapouri. Breidi Alexander and husband Brad set up Cabot Lodge in 2018.
