Technology plays an important part in the delivery of a great service, for example the RTL fleet of 15 fertiliser spreaders is equipped with proof of placement GPS systems. “Using the latest technology for spreading and calibration, we have the ability to do variable rate spreading. We run a wide array of self-unloading trailers and loaders so we can load out of fertiliser bins and stockpiles. Access to product is no problem with fertiliser and lime consignment stores across our depots,” says Shona. Using TracMap means farmers can send work orders to RTL via an app on their mobile device. Shona says this removes room for error with data being entered just once, and gives the convenience of ordering from anywhere, any time. From the time an order is placed farmers have full visibility with status updates and a notification when the loaded vehicle enters their property. Once completed, work orders are stored to keep a full historic record. Likewise the 16 RTL bulk and general cartage vehicles are GPS tracked and drivers communicate with the dispatch team throughout the journey so no details are missed. They complete a variety of jobs including carting timber, baleage, hay, wool or steel for example, through to specialised bathtub units for carting grain, coal, fertiliser, lime and stock food. In depots RTL stocks a range of products available for landscaping, wintering pads and calf sheds, and even cement and coal. Fertilisers stocked include Ballance, Ravensdown, Superior Minerals, Livestock Supplies, AB Lime, Milburn Lime and Graymont Lime.
