80 | ‘Fantastic team’ key to success from page 78 With Nelson and Richmond booming over the last couple of years Cunningham Construction’s workload has risen accordingly. Tasman - Cunningham Construction 2021 BUILDING “We can work to our strengths and if we need to pull someone with the right skill-set off one job to help on another we can do that without stretching ourselves too far.’ John Cunningham has been building for 40 years and has a lot of knowledge and experience in the industry behind him. His wife Sue works on the administration side of the company with Laurie now doing four days a week with a view to gradually taking over as Eddie’s and her three children get older. From Eddie and Laurie’s point of view John and Sue have worked really hard to get the company where it is, and it’s a legacy they’re keen to grow. “We want to continue bringing great service to the region with the goal being for John and Sue able to head into retirement while still being able to give the support we need,” says Eddie. Eddie and Laurie take their responsibilities to their clients just as seriously as John and Sue do. “It’s a big deal creating someone’s home, it’s most people’s biggest asset so it’s a big deal and we try to make that as smooth and stress-free as possible,” says Eddie.
