One of the stars in Aroma’s mussel harvesting leet is ‘Kakara’, a 30-metre vessel built by the Aimex team that went out on the water in 2019. With a 90-tonne harvesting capacity, Kakara has signi icantly improved productivity for Aroma and has been a reliable performer from day one. “We deliver vessels that are ready to go with no teething problems,” observes Ross Harvey, Aimex Engineering Services Manager. “Once built, Kakara left the wharf and went straight to work and has not stopped since.” Aroma is now planning another new vessel - to work o Banks Peninsula - with the Aimex team currently developing a speci ication and design package to meet their bespoke requirements. Construction is due to start later this year. This new vessel will be slightly smaller than Kakara and with an aft wheelhouse to meet operational conditions.
