T T from page 42 Westland Milk Products REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT T Tto page 47 From Amy’s perspective, culture is fundamental to everything in the business and is directly connected to change and people. “If you look at Westland, the capital investment by Yili Group has been there for a number of years now, the strategy that we are working to hasn’t changed, but what has changed in terms of culture is providing a clear runway that enables people to step up. “You can have all the right plant and equipment, but if you don’t have the right people and the right culture, it’s never going to work. “A lot of that is around talent attraction and retention. If people feel they are being developed, their work is purpose driven they are making a difference, and the company is getting good results from a performance perspective, you have some good momentum and a brand that people want to be part of.” A modern milk processing facility functions and operates through a diversity of roles including accounting, sales and marketing, human resources, right through to fitters, electricians, automation engineers, plant operators, fork lift operators, tanker drivers, waste water treatment technicians, supply chain managers, health and safety officers, not to mention the laboratory technicians and quality team.
