84 | Orange Homes: Kennedys Green T T Richard Loader ‘Something special and unique’ on offer PROPERTY With forty-three years building homes for the good people of Canterbury, family owned and operated design and build company Orange Homes has literally built thousands and thousands of homes, and now looks forward to breaking ground in Kennedys Green. Thoughtfully designed with families in mind, Kennedys Green take pride of place in Halswell, offering residents a two-minute bike ride to the historic quarry complete with picnic areas, mountain biking, walking trails and botanic collections. Then you have a great library, Te Hapua Aquatic Centre, Halswell Primary School, and if the city calls, a thirteen-minute car ride to the heart of Christchurch’s CBD. Orange Homes has secured five house and land packages at Kennedys Green, with individual section Titles expected in March 2023. “Our main focus is to provide house and land packages for three and four-bedroom homes, that allow young families or professional couples to get into a brand new home,” says Managing Director Evan Christieson. “We’re really excited to see these houses get under way. “It’s a project that we jumped onto a long time before the land was ready to start and we’re looking forward to seeing it up and running early next year. “We currently have two of our offerings with very interested parties, and now that Title is soon to be issued the rest will surely move quickly.” Section sizes offered by Orange Homes will range from 450sqm to 550sqm, with houses ranging from 150sqm to 190sqm. “At the moment we’re just offering single storey options. Anything double storey adds significant cost that is not necessarily seen.” Based in Christchurch, Orange Homes operates from the edges of Hanmer Springs through to Ashburton and Methven, building a diverse range of residential properties from the more affordable first homes up to homes in the million-dollar bracket. “We’ve never operated just in one market, because when the market shifts, as it can do, you can get stuck. We prefer to provide a great range of homes, and our process doesn’t have to change a lot, depending on the house. With all our projects our focus is quality, consistency, offering fantastic value to our clients, and building great homes for them. We have our own in-house team of three architectural designers, which also means we can work closely with our clients and move quickly on any design changes. The designers are also on hand to offer support to our construction teams as well.” Evan says the majority of projects are bespoke and tailored to the individual client’s needs and lifestyle preferences, either by tweaking one of the seventy off-the shelf Orange Homes’ plans, starting from a blank piece of paper, or in some cases the client bringing in their own plans. A key success factor for Orange Homes is consistency in the finished product, explains Evan. “We don’t want to win the race to the bottom by offering the cheapest house, because you lose your quality both in the fixtures that you provide and the build itself. “We use valued contracted builders, and the majority of them do almost all their work for Orange Homes. We even have a couple of builders who have been with us for twenty-two years. “That in itself says a lot both in terms of the longevity of the company and also the loyalty that we show to the people who work hard for us — that we can offer a consistent flow of work. “Our heart is to continue to serve the community of Canterbury. “We want to be the company that anyone can approach. So we’ve focused on consistency, not getting too big and losing that ability to be personal, and offering something special and unique to people.” PROUDLY SUPPORTING ORANGE HOMES • Plumbing, Drainage & Gas Fitting • Service & Maintenance • Drainage Surveys & Reports • Commercial & Domestic 03 376 5322 www.christchurcheast.laserplumbing.co.nz
