Fourflax REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT An Ashburton-based company producing pet supplements has been celebrated for its successful expansion into a number of export markets. Fourflax won the Excellence in Export category at the 2026 ANZ Business of the Year Awards held in Ashburton in February The family-owned company started out in 2010, crafting premium, natural supplements for pets. Today, it supplies 350 nationwide retailers, including Farmlands, PGG Wrightson and Animates, also offering delivery across New Zealand through its website. From its purpose-built facility, the company produces a range of flaxseed-based oils and powders that improve overall health and wellbeing for dogs, cats, and horses. “We began with just one product, Flax Seed Oil for Dogs & Cats, and now offer a range of 16 different products that champion premium quality, New Zealand made ingredients wherever possible,” says sales and marketing director Jenna White. The company entered its first export partnership in 2012 in Hong Kong, and is still working with the same partner today. In recent years, four new partners have come on board to bring Fourflax products to Japan, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea. “Since 2023, nurturing our partnerships and improving our product offering has resulted in our international revenue growing significantly, and we are on course for an increase of close to 300% by the end of the current financial year,” Jenna says.
