ARCHITECTURE » Borrmeister Architects at the top of each townhouse providing natural stack ventilation. North-facing double or triple height glazing has been included to maximise solar heat gain, while the internal void spaces and open mezzanine help maintain a good level of natural ventilation. Placement of window openings and external screens was carefully considered, based on room type and orientation. Each has been designed in line with ever-chang- ing seasons and light levels. “We conducted solar studies on how each build- ing would work, both in winter and in summer,Says Jasper. Sustainable building materials were selected, including natural products like timber and durable materials such as aerated concrete panels and profiled metal. Feedback on the urban village townhouses, completed last year, has been very positive. They demonstrate Borrmeister Architect’s flair for connecting architecture to its context and environ- ment through an inclusive and meticulous design process. “We take every project stage by stage, initially meeting with the client and discussing on site what they what to achieve. “We did a feasibility study for this project giving different options before developing the concept and detailed design. “As well, there was a lengthy resource consent process.” This award winning Christchurch-based practice offers a full range of architectural services, includ- ing residential, commercial, industrial, hospitality and interior design, and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Architects and the Green Build- ing Council of New Zealand. 027 243 9464 Barry@ParkerConstruction.co.nz parkerconstruction.co.nz Barry Parker - Director 12 Hunters Lane, Lincoln, 7608, New Zealand M: E: W: PROUD TO WORK WITH BORRMEISTER ARCHITECTS
