Whether a rural building, an aircraft hangar, industrial or commercial building, their building solutions are tailored to suit local condi- tions and the requirements of their clients. A key ingredient in the design and build process is getting to know their clients and understanding their business. “This helps us match their requirements with the building code and a range of products to deliver a turnkey solution,” says Allister. “Along the way clients work together with the de- sign team, using the latest in 3D software to model the building, creating plans, elevations, sections and 3D rendered views which assist in visualising the completed building. “This enables us to get the buy-in from our clients and ensure that the concept matches their requirements.” Coresteel’s innovative and cost-effective systems offer a high level of structural integrity and are matched to the specific requirements of the build- ing. Coresteel’s cold formed structures feature a unique patented bracketless portal system that, together with a superior galvanising coating, deliver a cost effective and flexible building solution that provides a 50-year durability statement. Also available is Coresteel’s innovative tapered box beam structural system, which is ideal for larger buildings with spans ranging from 20m to more than 75m. The tapered box beam system has been indepen- dently checked and verified by the Heavy Engineer- ing Research Association (HERA), and is coated with a paint system that is matched to the environment to ensure optimal protection. One of Coresteel Marlborough’s recently com- pleted projects is a 700sqm commercial warehouse and office building. “This project is a great example of how we worked closely with our client to understand their needs and requirements. “These were matched with our knowledge of the building code, building materials and construction methodology. “The end result is a cost-effective building solu- tion that matches the building requirements and functions as specified.” Also demonstrating the flexibility of Coresteel’s tailored design and build approach is the recently completed staff amenities building for local com- pany Foley Wines. Coresteel utilised both of its structural solutions in this building to deliver a spacious staff lunch and dining area, complete with large vaulted ceilings, large windows and doors and a polished concrete floor. “Both of these projects display the benefits of working closely with our clients. Working closely in a team environment is extended to the contractors and subcontractors we use on our projects. “Without their skills and expertise we would not be able to pull together the completed project.” Coresteel Marlborough–Tasman has seen an increase in demand for larger buildings over the years. “It’s a sign of the times,” observes Allister, who started his commercial construction career in 1995. “The requirements for buildings today are larger than back in the mid-nineties, and the in- novation and development of construction materials means we can construct buildings today that were unthinkable in years gone by. The Marlborough–Tasman region has made it through the initial Covid-19 lockdown period with a moderately positive vibe in the two regions. The Coresteel team is about to commence construction of several exciting new projects in the coming months and several others are in the developed design phase. “This project is a great example of how we worked closely with our client to understand their needs and requirements.”
