Consortium Construction W ith so many high profile inner city projects already under its belt in Christchurch, Consortium Construc- tion has recently completed construction of the Nissan dealership’s new Moorhouse Avenue building. Construction of the dealership’s building, which is owned by Peebles Group, com- menced December last year and is located on the very prominent site once home to the Science Alive building. The new building sits between the NPD Petrol Station and the new Mitsubishi dealership. Brooke Whiting, Consortium Construction’s General Manager, says the new dealership building is both smart and contemporary in its design, and it also embraces simplicity ensur- ing the vehicles are the real heroes. “The idea of the building’s design is to show- case the vehicles so that they shine as the stars. It’s very exciting having a big dealership like that in such a prominent part of the city; re-cementing its position in Christchurch City. “Nissan is an exciting car manufacturer and it is very cool to see the offering continue in Christchurch. There are some exciting new Nissan models coming out and it will be great to see them in the new flagship showroom.” Sitting on a 2300-sqm site, the building and canopy covers 1000sqm, with the building itself counting for about half of that. The concrete tilt panel structure includes Alucabond feature cladding and will also include a mezzanine floor. “Richard Peebles is very tenant driven with designs that are simple, efficient and cost effective, and it is always a pleasure to work with him,” says Brooke. “It has also been great working with brands like Nissan. It’s about everyone working to- gether to get the best outcome and that’s why we get repeat business.” Over the last few years Consortium Con- struction’s impressive portfolio of inner city projects have included Riverside Market and all the Riverside Lanes surrounding it, and the Guthrie Centre Complex next to Ballantynes. Consortium Construction was also the head contractor for the McKenzie & Willis redevel- opment, which includes Little High, and the neighbouring Duncan’s Lane redevelopment also on High Street.
