102 | Qestral Corporation: Branbury Park LIFESTYLE New generation village set for Halswell Karen Phelps An integral part of running a village is to provide plenty of options for people to come together and build a sense of community. A new generation retirement village is set to open soon in Halswell, Christchurch. Construction of the first three stages of houses at Qestral’s Banbury Park is well underway, the first of which are due for completion later this year. A state-of-the-art care facility, offering premium hospital and resthome level care, is scheduled to open mid-2023. Banbury Park is located between Milns Road and Sparks Road, only 9kms southwest of the city and just 7.6kms from the hospital. The location is stunning, says Qestral Managing Director, Simon O’Dowd. “Halswell is legendary for having fabulous green spaces, history and fantastic dining and shopping options. It is surrounded by open green spaces and walking areas such as the Halswell Quarry and Westlake Reserve. It’s an exciting part of the city that is growing rapidly.” Simon says Qestral villages are unique, each with its own personality, and Banbury Park is a good example. “It is architecturally designed with careful urban design to resemble an upmarket residential subdivision - with no cookie-cutter houses,” he says. “There will be no buildings over two storeys in height, with most of the houses being stand-alone and available in a good mix of sizes and designs.” Award winning Architect Kerry Mason, a founder of +MAP Architects, is on Qestral’s board of directors, which signifies the importance Qestral places on establishing and maintaining high standards of urban design and innovative architecture. Simon describes the design of Banbury Park as modern and distinct, with wider roads than standard villages and greater space between houses. The concept is to create a complex that is open and expansionary, and not intensified, he says. “At Qestral we really pride ourselves on ensuring there is a large amount of garden and green space around each home, with innovative landscaping designs and use of sculptures and other features to give each home a unique look,” explains Simon. to page 104 www.independentlines.com | operations@ils.net.nz If You Need Power, You Need Us!
