An invitation by Gibbston Valley’s team to award winning HARO New Zealand to talk about the resort project’s flooring needs, forged a perfect alignment of ecological and green architectural values, and responsible development. HARO New Zealand is well known and well respected in the region for its high-quality oak timber flooring products, sustainably manufactured by 150-year-old German business HARO. “The resort project is broken down to various stages, including 9-hole golf course, club house, freehold HARO Flooring — German Engineered Timber Flooring sections and resort amenities,” says Sales and Operations Manager Richard St John. “HARO Flooring is part of the Vines stage one. The Vines consists of high gabled single storey two-bedroom/ two-bathroom fourplexes, of around 125sqm of floor plan. Our scope is to supply the oak timber flooring for Stage One, and there are a number of stages for these types of dwelling. We aligned the resorts requirements around what they were looking for in terms of colour tones and materials.” The product selected is a 180mm plank in an Oak Shell Grey, which is a new colour from HARO Germany. “The Resort’s interiors team really liked it because it naturally toned with the environment. The location of the resort sits alongside the Kawarau River and then you are at the base of these quite rugged mountains. If you look at all those earthy tones, this particular floor with, its silty grey schisty colours, suits it enormously. The whole resort is a magnificent project.” The use of engineered timber flooring, the mainstay of timber floors around the globe, reflects the Gibbston Valley project team’s strong desire to source sustainably produced materials. Located in Rosenheim Bavaria, the family-owned business of HARO has been actively involved in wood processing throughout its 150-year history. With its Head Office in Queenstown, and showrooms in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, HARO New Zealand has been operating throughout New Zealand for more than 15 years. “We are very proud to represent the HARO brand exclusively,” says Richard. “We don’t sell any
