Privately owned and with a teamof 130 dedicated sta , Central Group Forklifts & Trucks has its Head O ice based in Lower Hutt, with branches in Palmerston North, Napier, Hamilton, Auckland and Christchurch, o ering forklift sales, rentals, parts and servicing throughout New Zealand. “Servicing vehicles has always been a key element of our business, as well as their hire and sale,” says CFO and Director Steve Mackay. “We currently have about 1500 forklifts out for hire throughout the country.” The company’s journey with Canterbury Spinners commenced ten years ago following the Canterbury earthquakes. When Canterbury Spinners wanted to upgrade its leet of engine powered forklifts for its Dannevirke, Lower Hutt and Oamaru branches, it looked to Central Group Forklifts & Trucks for its needs. “We were able to o er them a leet of electric forklifts in 2013,” says Steve. A one-stop-shop for forklifts “Following Canterbury Spinners growth, that leet was upgraded again in 2017 utilising a di erent type of electric technology. Amore signi icant upgrade came about in 2021 when the leet was changed to lithiumbattery electric technology, providing signi icant e iciency and health and safety bene its. Over that ten year relationship, as Canterbury Spinners’ business has grown and evolved, so too has our o ering, providing solutions that meet that growth. The vehicles that Canterbury Spinners now hire fromus are all GPS speed controlled, enabling faster speeds outside and slower speeds inside, which is an important safety feature.
