But it has much wider applications than height access, and that is where Geeves Sca olding shines. The company provides weather protection while a facility is being worked on, props structures for construction or remediation, provides stages for events and provides temporary solutions like bridges and walkways. “People are hiring our expertise to develop a solution for their project,” says Adrian Cater, Operations Manager based in Timaru. “We’re then contracted to deliver that solution in terms of equipment hire, erection, alterations and dismantling.” Founded in 2010, Geeves Sca olding is part of the New Zealand Sca olding Group. From humble beginnings in Wellington and a noble vision to provide a much higher level of service in the industry, Geeves Sca olding has evolved organically to now encompass branches in, Timaru, Dunedin, Nelson, Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton, and employs over 180 sta . Geeves’ Timaru site was established in 2015 at the Washdyke Industrial Park, and undertakes projects throughout South Canterbury and into Mid-Canterbury. While Fonterra’s Clandeboye site has been a key customer for the last eight years, Geeves Timaru team of skilled sca olders also works for large commercial construction companies in the region. Geeves Scaffolding “We’ve also done a lot of residential work, like when many homes su ered damage in the 2020 hail storms,” says Adrian. “Our sca olding at Fonterra’s Clandeboye plant is used for a wide range of maintenance purposes including propping structures and providing platforms for lifting heavy components like valves and gearboxes.” Geeves Sca olding has invested in a German designed and manufactured sca olding system call Layher, which is considered an industry best, with a reputation for being the most precise system with a lot of innovation. Of the 23 sca olding sta at Geeves Timaru site, a large proportion are quali ied sca olders or going through training and apprenticeships. Safety is paramount when working in a height focused industry. Last year NZ Sca olding Group won the Training Company of the Year award at the Sca olding, Access & Rigging New Zealand awards, which recognised the Group’s investment in training and developing its people. Adrian says Geeves Sca olding places a lot of emphasis on its people, as the face of the business. “We provide a high-quality service to our clients, and provide reliable and safe working structures. Our job is to provide the people who will be working on the sca olding with peace of mind that the sca olding structures are safe to work on.” 0800 426 663 admin@parr.co.nz www.parr.co.nz Hayes Street, Timaru Port Specialising in Lloyds Approved Structural Marine Welding Procedures Q U A L I T Y - E F F I C I E N C Y - C O N T R O L
