With over 50 Registered Master Builder awards to their name in the past six years, clients are ensured that their home or renovation will receive the same award-worthy care and construction from first consultation to the finished product. Marketing manager and interior design specialist, Summer Phiskie says the company enters awards to affirm their commitment to quality craftsmanship, design, and innovation, and to have their team recognised for their workmanship. “We’re really passionate about our trade and its growth in regards to the value placed on workmanship. Housing awards encourage quality and help keep our industry accountable and competitive,” believes Summer. Based in Timaru and Twizel, Dimension Building’s focus is on quality, both in design and build, and will work with clients from concept through to interior design and landscaping to ensure there’s a connection from the front door to the back fence. The workload is split between building from detailed architectural plans and working with their own clients to design a new home or renovation. Company director, Richard Phiskie will meet with clients to understand how they live and their dream home vision before drawing plans that are taken to a draughtsman or architect. This model ensures a project comes in on budget and has full project management. “We know right from the start that we are working within the realm of the client’s budget, and if itdoes go beyond budget, we will spend time repricing in order to keep to that budget,” says Summer. “Richard will personally oversee your project and give expert advice and direction from the start.” She says the company is known for being contemporary and innovate and pushing the boundaries in design and standard building practises. “A lot of our homes have an organic natural feel to them with an emphasis on texture and the layering of quality materials, fixtures and fittings. “We often repeat the same product or colours in different forms to create interest without things becoming too busy; we try to steer our clients away from on-trend colours and concentrate more on how they want to live and feel in their home. If a house has a consistent flow, it doesn’t date compared to a series of separate on-trend rooms. “During the design process we always ask clients to collect images of what they love without thinking about it too much. “This helps us to capture a thread or “feeling” that we then work with to keep a home’s design authentic and consistent,” explains Summer. “We believe it’s really important for a home to reflect and represent its owner, the things they love and how they want to live and we want our clients to enjoy the design and build process as much as they do the end product. “ The same focus on good design rather than trends is applied to renovations. An on-trend kitchen may not reflect the house’s architecture, but Richard and Summer will pick out elements of the client’s desired kitchen and incorporate these into a fresh design. Renovations get the same quality treatment as new builds with excellent workmanship from the ground up and using the best sub-trades to complete the job. “We use proven construction methods and quality materials and work in conjunction with only the best subcontractors which we have sourced and personally guarantee. This ensures our clients are provided with the highest quality end product,” says Summer. Richard established Dimension Building in 2012 to combine his passion for architecture and being on the tools. This combination of skills resulted in the company’s first Supreme House of the Year Award for a home designed by Richard in 2017. For Richard building a home is about honesty, communication and teamwork, both within his team and the client relationship. He’s fortunate to have an inspirational team that share his vision and are a huge part of the company’s success. “Our team is really important to us, and we try hard to breed a good culture. “
