Christchurch-based company Smartweld has carved out a niche for itself in the manufacturing industry, specialising in the production of garage door springs. With a purpose built workshop located in Swananoa, the company has gained a reputation for delivering tens of thousands of high-quality springs to customers throughout New Zealand each year. Les, with over 30 years of experience in trades such as boiler making and fitting/turning, brings a wealth of expertise to the company. Kathy’s background in IT complements Les’ technical skills, enabling Smartweld to thrive in a competitive industry. While Smartweld initially focused on engineering it branched out into spring manufacturing as well around 13 years ago. Today, the company employs a team of dedicated staff members who possess in-depth knowledge of this dying trade.
