Owned and run by husband and wife team Joel and Sally Corry, the company currently employs five trade staff and recently celebrated its first year of operation. Joel Corry Building comprises an enthusiastic team of highly skilled carpenters who are passionate about their craft, Joel says. “We enjoy turning our clients dreams into reality and believe the building process is a journey that should be enjoyed by every individual involved in that process, most importantly our clients.” The building process is a journey of collaboration between the client, the builder and the sub-contractors, he says. “We desire to maintain and express open communication and sound advice along the way, to ensure our clients enjoy their final product as much as they have enjoyed the process. Strong relationships are vital to achieving a successful build.” During the next 24 months, Joel Corry Building will be undertaking a range of exciting projects, from beautiful large architectural homes to detailed renovations and interesting light commercial projects. Joel has 20 years experience in the construction industry in various roles such as management, project management, quantity surveying and is a trade qualified carpenter. “As a company we focus on building a strong team of qualified builders who enjoy their craft and take pride in their workmanship. The whole company bonds really well and we enjoy each other’s company.” The move to Wanaka five years ago has brought Joel and Sally closer to family, but his previous area manager role was also great for networking, Joel says. Construction is Wanaka is still reasonably buoyant and he attributes this to the high-end housing sector tending to be recession-proof as well as subdivisions such as Northlake in Wanaka and Longview in Hawea still being in development. “That’s going to take a few years to get all those done. The desire to live in this region still hasn’t changed. “There’s actually a bit of a market for investors to be building middle range houses
