Coming from a family with strong roots within provincial rugby, Ben enjoyed the sport whilst growing up in Pleasant Point. “When I finished school, I went fencing for a bit then did the building course at Ara Polytech Timaru.” Ben completed his apprenticeship with David Fridd Building, then went on to work for friends before he left for his O.E. “I had an idea that I wanted to go overseas and play rugby, so I did for three and a half years before returning home about 2014,” says Ben. He then worked four years with Henderson Building Timaru and later Stu Heap Building before going out on his own. “One of my first clients was a dairy farmer in my first year, so I was lucky to spend a lot of the first year working across his farms and complementing that with some house renovations.” Currently most of his work schedule is residential renovation, alteration and extension for urban and rural homes and holiday homes across the district.
