12 | REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Central Otago: Wooing Tree - Cellar Door + Kitchen T T Kim Newth New cellar door enticing destination The Wooing Tree Cellar Door will provide a sophisticated wine destination for Cromwell locals as well as visitors. Winter 2024 brings the pending opening of Wooing Tree Wines’ new Cellar Door + Kitchen in Cromwell, providing a sophisticated wine destination for locals as well as visitors passing by on SH 8B from Wānaka to Queenstown. Christchurch-based Argo Consulting were engaged to assist in the delivery of this exciting new addition positioned at the entrance to Wooing Tree Estate, a masterplanned, boutique vineyard subdivision taking shape at the edge of Cromwell’s town centre. “We were engaged by Wooing Tree Wines to provide project delivery services for the development of the new cellar door,” says Mike Davis, of Argo Consulting. “The key stakeholders and owners, Steve and Thea Farquharson, have transformed their vineyard into the Wooing Tree Estate neighbourhood and have invested heavily in the local community. The new cellar door provides a refined showcase for their high-quality award-winning wine.” The Farquharson’s and their development partners have been instrumental in developing the area including the new SH 8B roundabout outside the neighbourhood entrance as well as a new underpass for pedestrians and cyclists that integrates Wooing Tree Estate as a part of Cromwell’s town centre. The new cellar door is sited alongside the underpass at the entrance to Wooing Tree Estate. “It is perfectly positioned as a high-profile outlet for premium wine tasting and wine sales. So much effort has gone into creating all of this, resulting in a very architectural, highend building.” Representing the culmination of years of work by award-winning Architecture F+D=A, the cellar door is a 350sqm, multi-functional building with an aesthetically pleasing finish that matches the outstanding Central Otago location. It replaces previous premises that were removed as part of the masterplanned Wooing Tree Estate development. Argo is proud to have played a role in delivering the new cellar door on site with other key trade partners from within and outside the region. Argo Consulting was established in 2019 to provide a specialist, service-focussed offering to commercial developments and provide full, end-to-end project delivery consultancy, working directly for the client and delivering the outcomes they want from start to finish.
