Making Accessibility More Accessible Modular Handrail Barrier Systems Balustrade Staying true to its strength of delivering on an end-to-end solution, Moddex got involved from the very start of Tūora Fendalton School’s exciting refurbishment project and provided delivery of fully safe, compliant, and engineered handrail systems to New Zealand standards and Ministry of Education requirements. Moddex is a leading manufacturer of modular handrails and balustrades starting in Australia in 2010 and operating in New Zealand for the past six years, based out of Rangiora. Moddex service the entire country with the supply and install of handrail and balustrade systems. “What we bring to the table is being able to deliver on a end-to-end solution for fully compliant and engineered handrail and balustrade systems anywhere in the country, with a range of proprietary systems to suit any application,” says Moddex key account manager Barnet How. “We are the perfect choice for education projects where safety is a top priority, as we have a range of fully complaint structurally sound systems that can be chosen from with the peace of mind they won’t compromise on performance or design.” At Tūora Fendalton School, Moddex assisted Designgroup Stapleton Elliott by providing its own Building Information Modelling (BIM) library to help them draw and specify the Moddex product onto the plans, along with providing Producer Statements (PS1s) and specification documents for consent purposes. When it came to delivery, Moddex went to site for a site measure before producing shop drawings with its in-house drafting team. Once shop drawings had been reviewed and approved by the client, Moddex manufactured the modular kitset in the Rangiora factory and then sent it out for install, which due to its modular construction, went together very quickly onsite. Moddex is always on the lookout for better ways of solving the unique obstacles construction projects face, and with its increased focus on innovation, is now expanding its offering to the market. While Moddex has traditionally provided handrail and balustrade systems, its latest product, the Ezibilt ramp and stair system, is a modular approach to building accessible ramps and stairs. “As we were often providing handrails for accessible routes, it made sense to come up with a system which provided the access itself and integrated with our handrails so we could provide a one stop shop for accessibility,” Barnet says. “This system is comprised of adjustable modules that can be configured to provide the access solutions in a variety of ways depending on the site, before being finished in the customer’s choice of cladding and completed with our handrails. This new approach speeds up construction and saves time on site compared to traditional timber construction.” Moddex offers a variety of services including in-house drafting, site measurement, engineering, compliant installation, and more. Its range of proprietary modular designs are manufactured in-house and designed to save customers time and money, and its personalised approach to customer service ensures customers are looked after from concept to installation. “With our expertise and processes, we can ensure you get the most competitive pricing, your project runs smoothly, and we work with you to meet your strict budget and timeline.” End-to end solutions with Moddex
