Lake McKay DEVELOPMENT Lake McKay subdivision is expected to significantly increase the population of Luggate and will add a new commercial precinct to the town expanding retail and dining options for locals. Located close to Wanaka in Central Otago, Lake McKay delivers a range of sections to the market suitable for a variety of needs and has been eagerly snapped up by purchasers, says development manager Murray Frost. Earmarked for five stages in total, Stage 1 titles came out in November delivering 22 sections and stage 2 has just been completed offering another 32 sections. Around 65% are sold already so good opportunities still exist for savvy purchasers, says Murray. The sections overlooked by the Pisa Range are elevated sites and average over 800sqm. They offer breath-taking mountain and pastoral views and are approximately two thirds of the cost of a similar-sized section in Wanaka meaning extremely good value, says Murray. “Our sections are really affordable and it’s just a short drive on an easy open road to Wanaka and Cromwell so buyers get the best of both worlds.” Also on offer are a limited number of lifestyle blocks averaging around 15ha each and some with mountain and lake views. Of the six recently made available two have already sold. “Biking and walking tracks will be provided along the creek and connecting through the rest of the farm. It’s going to be a great place to live,” says Murray. The development team has also purchased the former Upper Clutha Transport yard in the centre of Luggate with the intention to turn this into a village hub with a number of small businesses. The site includes the historic stone flourmill that dates back to 1880, which will give it a unique point of difference. This adjunct to Lake McKay will be easily accessible from the neighbouring subdivision. There will be plenty of parking and it will link with a large open reserve beside the Luggate Creek. There are also discussions underway with the Lakes District Council over the building of a tennis court and possibly a walking bridge over the creek to link the reserve and subdivision to the rest of the town. Murray says the creek’s excellent swimming hole is popular with locals and the reserve area beside the creek will provide play areas and space to bbq, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Lake McKay’s development team have an impressive track record and are well known in the area for quality subdivision work such as Queensberry Hills and Pukerangi lifestyle blocks near Luggate, Peninsula Bay (320 sections) and Penrith Park (115 sections) in Wanaka. Lake McKay is named after a small lake high up on the Pisa Range, which feeds Luggate Creek. Murray says Lake McKay is ideal for a variety of purchasers including first homebuyers, young families and those looking for a relaxing place to retire.
