Across all projects, the team prioritises relationships, communication, and trust. Shore Construction “The majority of our work is still based in South Canterbury, but the strength of our relationships has naturally led to projects in new regions.” BUILDING Shore Construction continues to demonstrate its reputation for high-quality, bespoke homes with a striking new project on Waterholes Road, just south of Christchurch. This custom-built, pavilion-style residence exemplifies the company’s dedication to tailored design, seamless collaboration, and enduring relationships with clients and architects alike. Director Nick Shore says the business, founded by his father Rickie Shore in 1993, has grown steadily from its roots in Timaru to include divisions in Christchurch and Central Otago. “We cover a large area of central South Island,” says Nick. “The majority of our work is still based in South Canterbury, but the strength of our relationships has naturally led to projects in new regions.” The Waterholes Rd home, designed in partnership with Chilton + Mayne Architecture of Ashburton, is a modern farmhouse that blends industrial detailing with clean lines and natural materials. It’s characteristic of Shore Construction’s meticulous craftsmanship and uncompromising quality. “This build is more unique than your typical family home,” says Nick. “The clients, a young family, have been incredibly involved. They’ve lived on-site in a caravan throughout the build, doing their own landscaping and even constructing a shed themselves.” The project is being delivered in stages to suit the family’s long-term vision. “They’ve chosen not to build the master bedroom or garage just yet,” Nick explains. “This approach allows them to maintain the quality they want without compromise, and expand the home as their needs evolve.” Shore Construction’s long-standing relationship with Chilton + Mayne has played a key role in projects like this. “Being involved early in the design phase is crucial,” says Nick. “It means we can help guide the budget and suggest solutions to ensure the design stays achievable. The biggest challenge in any custom build is aligning the design with what the clients want to spend.” The home features high-end materials and bespoke detailing, including imported Italian bricks, and steel doors handcrafted by the client that add a personal touch and set the project apart. “Those kinds of details give the home real personality,” says Nick. Shore Construction’s portfolio spans architectural homes, commercial buildings, rural accommodation, and complex renovations. Across all projects, the team prioritises relationships, communication, and trust. “The majority of our work comes from repeat business or referrals,” says Nick. “We’ve just completed our fifth home for one family in Timaru, and we’ve partnered with some of our commercial clients for over a decade on projects throughout the South Island.” Since rebranding from Rickie Shore Building in 2017, the company has experienced strong growth under Nick’s leadership – without losing the family values at its core. “Our business is built entirely on relationships,” says Nick. “We offer a true one-stop service – whether it’s a full turnkey home with landscaping, or simply advice on the most cost-effective materials. We’re with our clients every step of the way.” With Rickie still actively involved in projects like Waterholes Rd, Shore Construction continues to blend decades of hands-on experience with a forward-thinking, innovative approach – delivering high-quality homes that stand the test of time. www.cmarchitecture.co.nz 03 307 1126 0800 688 7313 shoreconstruction.co.nz Shore Construction delivers excellence in residential and commercial projects of all complexities.
