Silver Creek Construction BUILDING The slow-down in the new-home building market has been challenging builders around the country, and like many, Luke Bowen’s Blenheim-based Silver Creek Construction has been forced to reassess the way it operates. “At Silver Creek this has meant taking a step back, refining our approach and leaning into what we do best: delivering quality building work with a strong team culture and a commitment to smart, steady growth,” Luke says. “We started out as a small, hands-on operation, and over time we’ve evolved into a more structured business with the ability to take on a wider range of residential projects across Marlborough. “From new builds and alterations to kitchens and bathrooms, we’ve grown to now offer a complete range of services that support our clients through every stage of their home- improvement journey. “While the new-home market has slowed, we’ve focused on renovations and extensions – work that has kept us consistently busy, and it’s been a great opportunity to build stronger connections with homeowners, and tackle projects that are as rewarding as they are challenging.” Luke founded Silver Creek – he chose the name because it had a nice ring to it – in 2019. He had grown up on a farm near Tuatapere in Southland, and it was while working round the farm that he developed his love for building through hands-on, practical learning while helping an uncle with a firewood business. He eventually moved to Blenheim, where he gained experience on a variety of residential projects and completed a carpentry apprenticeship with an up-market residential builder where quality workmanship was stressed. He also worked both with that builder and on his own account in the re-build after the 2010-2011 Canterbury earthquakes before deciding to establish his own residential building company, which would “focus on doing things properly, with pride in every detail,” he says. Silver Creek Construction is his expression of those principles. “Nowadays, our services extend beyond home-building alterations and additions to include design, demolition, earthworks, fencing and gates, kitchens and bathrooms, sheds and out-buildings, foundations and landscaping – even earthmoving.” And at the heart of the business is the team delivering the goods. “Our team is small but mighty – three full-time staff and one trusted subcontractor – and we’re proud to have a steady pipeline of work ahead,” Luke says. “As we continue to grow, we’re always on the lookout for people who share our values and passion for quality craftsmanship. At the heart of everything we do is a simple principle: good workmanship matters – it’s what makes a job last and it’s what keeps clients coming back. “As the industry continues to shift, our focus remains the same: to build great homes, great relationships and a team culture to be proud of,” he says. “I learned early on the importance of quality workmanship at every stage of the project, and I’ve incorporated those values into everything Silver Creek does,” Luke says. “There can be no greater satisfaction than a job well done.” 022 311 6578 | cjinteriorplastering@gmail.com C J Interior Plastering Limited QUALIFIED GIBSTOPPER • PLASTERER HIGH QUALITY FINISHES
