| 27 REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Southland: Open Country Dairy Open Country Dairy has expanded its operation to include two new spray driers, and more than trebled its on-site processing capacity. Since its foundation in 2009, Auckland based industrial automation solutions provider ACSE has been on an upward trajectory with the aspiration of being a leading provider of robotic solutions to meet its customers’ processing needs. Operating throughout Australasia, ACSE looks after a diverse range of industry sectors including pharmaceuticals, food and dairy, packaging andmanufacturing. ACSE was founded by Gert Van As to develop automated software solutions for customers’ existing and newmachinery, giving their factories a production ‘rebirth’. “If companies had a need for a certain process, we would o er an automated solution, tailored tomeet their production needs,” says Gert. “A short while later SCADA software that captures the machines performance and provides a reporting function was added to the existing software package. Then, in 2016, we ventured into the brave newworld of robotics.” Partnering with Omron, Australia’s leading name in robotics, ACSE became system integrators for o -the-shelf industrial robots, including high speed pick-and-place machines, designing the software tomake them function in the factory. “Following that, we began to get enquiries from speci ic industrial businesses looking for a tailor-made robotic solution, rather than an o -the-shelf solution. We’ve now have in-house design capability to build our Efficiency, reliability & compatibility own bespoke robotic solutions, and have recently designed a system for a company looking to automate its unique hand driven assembly line through robotics.” Gert says the future is about providing customers with the choice of an o -the-shelf solution that meets their needs, or the option of a bespoke solution designed and built speci ically to meet their needs, particularly where an o the shelf solution does not exist or does not quite ful ill the customer’s needs. “We continue to o er our core business of developing software and machines to automate processes, along with the SCADA system. It is now about bringing all our o erings together to provide end-of-line, assembly and packing solutions. With labour getting harder and more expensive, businesses are looking for automated solutions. We think it is quite important to take those challenges o the client and design them a tailor-made solution.” Re lecting on the last thirteen years in business, Gert says throughout the company’s journey ACSE has always prided itself on being able to design and provide software and machinery solutions tailored to meet the customers industrial processing needs. “We o er e iciency, reliability and compatibility. We deliver on what we promise and if we make a promise we will go to the moon and back to meet that promise.” Are machine breakdowns interfering with your productivity?
