They’ve completed several developments themselves including one which houses their own offices. Another of their sites has just got consent for a base building to be constructed in what is the second stage of that site’s development, the first being the successful completion of Opus House complete with three tenancies. That build will get underway once tenancies are secured so that the premises can be built to order. Cunningham Properties pride themselves on their design and build skills, working closely with tenants to make sure the bespoke premises and fit out are exactly what’s required. Across their portfolio, including the Business Park, they look after 50 commercial tenants. They’ve had plenty of experience with different types of fit outs and dealing with tenants who know about their own business but not necessarily what that means for their premises. Alex’s quantity surveying skills, combined with the company’s long-term relationships with local builders and sub-contractors, help when it comes to the pricing estimates which underpin the ensuing process. “The tenant walks in with an idea and we can give them an estimate of what’s required in the fit out and then an indicative rental cost, which is really helpful at that early stage,” says Vicki. “Then we can do it all to make it happen,” says Alex. “Preliminary plans, pricing, co-ordinating with architects or engineers. We’re a one stop shop through to completion. “There’s a lot of admin before you get to start the build, with a lot to factor in around the leasing and the tenancies, but it’s satisfying watching it all come together.” The Cunningham Properties Group remain committed to the Invercargill region which is where they have always chosen to do their business. While Russell Cunningham himself passed away earlier this year, the results of his planning and vision live on in the thriving Business Park that continues to go from strength to strength.
