We have trained a lot of people from different backgrounds, including school leavers. They just need the right attitude and aptitude.” While Head Of ce is in the farming service town of Ashburton, Morrison Agri’s Dairy Technicians are spread throughout the Canterbury and North Otago regions, providing support, when and as needed by the dairy farming community. Until 2015, Morrison Agri’s work was primarily installing new milking plant and rotary platforms, particularly with the large number of dairy conversions at the time. While Morrison Agri’s team still does that kind of work, in 2015 the focus shifted to becoming a market leader in repairs, maintenance and upgrades of existing plant and platforms. “The need for new installations tailed off, but also a number of the sheds were ten, fteen or twenty years old, so there was a growing demand for R&M and upgrades, carried out by skilled technicians, and we were able to meet that demand. We do an annual service on the machines. There is a huge amount of preventative work and plant breakdowns occurring during the season have actually reduced, through maintaining a really good service structure. In the last two or three years we have also developed our own wash chemical and teat spray, which is branded as Morrison Agri Fusion.” Part of Morrison Agri’s success story is relying on the businesses that support its operations - businesses like award winning precision cutter, Acucut. “We’ve used Acucut to custom make our bracketing systems for the last six years and have always been very pleased with their accuracy and ability to meet tight time frames.” Staying well ahead of the game
