86 | David Reid Homes Canterbury : Faringdon Richard Loader Faringdon design a head-turner BUILDING When Hughes Developments, the developer responsible for Rolleston’s Faringdon Subdivision, offered David Reid Homes – Canterbury the opportunity to purchase a couple of blocks of sections leading into Stage 2 of Faringdon Westwood, the challenge was to design something just a little different on the prominent street scape. Working closely with Christchurch architectural practice, Gravitas Consulting, the design team at David Reid Homes have created some very appealing and quite unique designs for house and land packages in the ever popular subdivision. “We think these sites are great, as they back on to the reserve walkway with grassed areas, mature planting and seating areas,” says Diana Creighton, David Reid Homes’ Sales Consultant. “Most of our eighteen sections have direct gated access through to the walkway. Vehicle access runs down the south of the properties and are private lanes, so great for safety and security. The resulting house designs fit well on the lay of the land, and all offer some delightful design points of difference” Diana says there are a few options for the style of home that customers can choose from and include some classic gable roofs; while others are mono pitch and quite modern. “With the houses ranging in size from 184sqm to 201sqm, and also the option of three or four good sized bedrooms, we see these houses having a broad range of appeal, from young families to ‘empty nesters’ wanting to downsize, understanding that a new build is going to be a warm and easy to maintain choice.” To be completed in the first quarter of 2023, one of the designs, and Diana’s personal favourite, will showcase the quality and clever design of a home designed and crafted by the team at David Reid Homes.
