Established in 1987, Petrotec Services Ltd is a nationwide construction, contracting and servicing company operating in the petroleum industry specialising in hazardous substances. Richard says Petrotec’s core customer sector has broadened in recent years to include tier 1 civil construction companies, agricultural and transport businesses, including tank installations at places like KiwiRail’s Waltham Yard. He says those projects can require signi cant electrical and pipe work, which ts well within the Petrotec team’s skill set. “We provide the entire package for a diverse range of clients and projects, from small farm tank installations through to design-build solutions for industrial plants, tank farms, mine sites, service stations, truck stops and anyone else who may need a fuel supply. Our capabilities cover the gamut from site investigations and scoping reports, to design, build, construction and compliance with the HSNO Act (hazardous substances and new organism) through to tank servicing and maintenance. With regular preventative action, the risk of unexpected machinery failure or contamination compromising the clients’ operations are signi cantly reduced.” While the Petrotec team undertakes all the petroleum related part of a site build, including the design and consenting work, tank installation, all electrical work and pipe work, trusted subcontractors are used around the country for concrete work, canopy construction, landscaping, all under Petrotec’s project management. Richard says that while it is common practice for a fuel company to approach Petrotec with a site for potential development, there are occasions when Petrotec identi es land that it considers has good potential for a fuel stop and recommends that to a fuel company before undertaking feasibility investigations, and progressing the project. Service and preventative maintenance contracts on facilities built by Petrotec also form a large part of the company’s operations. “Regular servicing, maintenance and preventative attention are essential for sites where fuel and other hazardous substances are present.
