98 | High-spec townhouses underway Each of the homes comes with attached single garage, while two also have a dedicated car parking space. Elterra Homes & JLC Construction T T Kelly Deeks The first development for new residential development company Elterra Homes comprises seven high-spec townhouses at 243 Lyttelton Street in Christchurch, which are currently under construction and due for settlement in March 2025. Elterra Homes was established by husband and wife Paul and Amy Harrison, who moved to New Zealand from Vancouver, Canada in 2018 and have since built and renovated three of their own residential projects using their trusted builder Josh Lee of JLC Construction. Josh is now building their Lyttelton Street project. Set back from the street down a paved driveway, each of these seven homes comes with attached single garage, while two also have a dedicated car parking space. Six are three-bedroom homes, the other is a two-bedroom, and each has a main bathroom and ensuite as well as a separate powder room on the main floor. The main bathrooms are equipped with bathtub and shower, and the showers in the ensuites are fully tiled with luxurious double shower heads. Bespoke, full-sized kitchens feature quality New Zealand-made Fisher and Paykel appliances and large island benches, and have been designed, manufactured, and installed by Ezy Kitchens, who also provided matching laundry cabinetry, and wardrobe joinery. “We are making great use of all of the space in our closets,” Amy says. “They are fitted with three if not six drawers and shelving that will fit storage cubes.” Both JLC Construction and the project’s architect Figure & Ground have been major assets for first-time townhouse developers Amy and Paul. Each company has an impressive track record for high standards, particularly in townhouse development, delivers on its promises, and is available for Elterra Homes through every stage of their project. With this all-star team established and the first project nearing completion, Paul and Amy are now looking for their next parcel of land for another townhouse development. Both are in full-time jobs, but they hope to eventually grow Elterra Homes into their main event. Amy has a lot of ideas about New Zealand’s residential future and she wants to test the market to see what it is ready for. She has seen an opportunity that combines the expansive market of downsizing baby-boomers with Kiwis’ love of history. “I’m interested in taking big heritage homes and making them more accessible. No one wants a 300sqm heritage home, but divide it by three and you have three beautiful homes with gorgeous gardens without all the maintenance and upkeep. I think New Zealand real estate is ready for something other than the one-bedroom villa.” DEVELOPMENT Scaffolding Specialists 027 730 0022 | alisha@excelscaffolding.co.nz | www.excelscaffolding.co.nz Choose Excel Scaffolding to meet your scaffolding needs.
