66 | DEVELOPMENT Westview Kim Newth Country living at its beautiful best Westview has an enviable rural outlook with gorgeous views that stretch to the Southern Alps. “I think what people are finding appealing about the lifestyle here is that we’re so central to everything in Canterbury - close to Christchurch, Timaru, Mt Hutt, Lake Hood and Ashburton town itself.” With construction of new high spec homes poised to commence at Westview in Mid Canterbury, the local development team is quietly excited to see their exclusive lifestyle vision coming to fruition. Two Mid Canterbury couples - Vicki and Alan Dobson, and David and Elizabeth McCormick – joined forces some four years ago to create Westview, a unique lifestyle subdivision offering an unprecedented choice of lifestyle titles. There are 40 sections in total, ranging between 4000 sqm and 5000 sqm. Buyers have responded positively, with 26 sections sold to date. Fourteen spacious sections - priced from $315,000 - are still available, (enquiries to Bayleys Ashburton). All are connected to town water, power, sewerage and fibre for broadband technology. “Everything is completed and ready to go,” says Alan. “We expect to get titles in January, with new home construction soon to follow.” Westview has an enviable rural outlook with gorgeous views that stretch to the Southern Alps. Along with all the benefits of country living, Westview’s ideal location at Tinwald means there are town amenities right on the doorstep. The Tinwald area is rapidly progressing, with a nearby subdivision of high-quality homes. From Westview, it’s a short walk to Tinwald Golf Club and less than 10 minutes’ drive to Tinwald Domain and Lake Hood. Outdoor recreation options from skiing, golfing, hiking and mountain biking to water sports and fishing are all easily accessible in the local area. The Tinwald Shopping Centre, just one kilometre from Westview, offers groceries, service station, restaurants, bars and takeaways. As well, Westview is conveniently close to Ashburton town centre, local schools and early childhood centres. “There are not many sections of this size in the Ashburton area, but we know there’s good demand for them,” says David. “It’s unique to have this many lifestyle titles in one subdivision and at such a convenient location, encompassing the best of town and country. There’s plenty of space at Westview for modern family living that includes jet skis, bikes and boats.” Alan and Vicki, who have lived in this part of Mid Canterbury for 30 years, will have a ringside seat on Westview’s progress, as they still live on one of the sections there. David and Elizabeth lived in Tinwald for some 20 years too and their son Graham is now making his future there, having already built a house at Westview. Most of the sections sold to date have gone to local Ashburton families, along with buyers from other parts of Canterbury including Christchurch, Geraldine and Timaru. Several have also sold to people from the North Island. “I think what people are finding appealing about the lifestyle here is that we’re so central to everything in Canterbury - close to Christchurch, Timaru, Mt Hutt, Lake Hood and Ashburton town itself,” says Alan. “We’ve also set strict covenants to ensure the houses built here will be of a consistent high-quality, similar to the other nearby subdivision.” Westview’s initial stages were guided by planning consultant David Harford whose strong background in resource management planning in both the private sector and local government proved invaluable. In order to fulfil their goals for Westview, trusted local professionals were selected. Companies that have been pivotal to this development’s success are Davis Ogilvie (Aoraki) Ltd (Engineers & Surveyors), Tarbotton Land & Civil, Mike Preston and Simon Sharpin of Bayleys Ashburton, Nelson Building Society (Ashburton Branch), RMF SILVA Mid Canterbury Lawyers and Leech & Partners Chartered Accountants. “We needed to employ people we had confidence in – we’re really pleased with the ones we chose,” says Alan. “They are a local team who know the area well. We took their advice and are delighted at how well everything has come together.” PROUD TO BE A PARTNER IN THE WESTVIEW DEVELOPMENT. 03 308 3191 law@rmfsilva.co.nz rmfsilva.co.nz Chris Robertson Partner Tim Silva Partner Angela McKay Senior Associate Christina Clarke Senior Associate Heather Neeson Senior Associate Sarah Baxter Senior Associate
