Ruary and Anna O’Toole are the local franchisees for Sentinel Homes Nelson and Marlborough, and they have also recently invested into a new branch, Sentinel Homes Christchurch South. The couple own and operate a building company called Ultraspec Building Solutions, and were drawn to the Sentinel Homes group not only for the quality homes it delivers for its clients, but also for the broader outcomes it strives to achieve for the environment, its staff, its suppliers, and the local communities it serves. Sentinel Homes brings its franchisees together four times a year for quarterly conferences, and Ruary says at the latest one just prior to Christmas they spent a day talking about franchisees’ mental health and wellbeing, and half a day talking about business. “A lot of us would put the customers first, then the business, then look after ourselves last. At this conference we talked about the importance of looking after yourself first, and that will improve performance for the customers and the business.” The business part of the conference was about what Sentinel Homes franchisees could do to offer their clients more of what they want and need. Sentinel Homes has traditionally been into the little details that make a big difference, and this looks set to continue as the company evolves with the needs of its customers. “Things like having the the shower mixer positioned out of the way of the shower head, and having USB points at your kitchen bench or by your bed. “Now we’re looking at car charging points in garages, and with the H1 insulation requirements coming upwhich could see homes getting a bit too warm, Sentinel Homes will be including a DVS system in the specification for each home. “We’re thinking about what it’s going to be like to live in these homes and creating that little bit of difference. We’re making sure everything is what the customer wants, even if they might not know they want it.” Sentinel Homes Nelson and Marlborough now has three home and land packages available at Berryfields in Richmond with two more expecting title in March. and two at Stag Ridge in Stoke and with titles already issued, there are no delays in applying for building consent. Titles are expected for two more home and land packages at Berryfields in March. Berryfields is an established subdivision in close proximity to Richmond CBD and Richmond Mall, with lots of amenities within the immediate area including hospitality, a new cinema, and a cycle trail. Two early childhood centres and under construction and a primary school is planned for the area. Stag Ridge is an exclusive development offering an upmarket lifestyle with architecturally designed homes in a sunny and quiet location with sea views. Sentinel Homes Nelson and Marlborough sales consultant Mark Brooker says there is flexibility with the Berryfields sections to utilise a different plan from what is being marketed. “We are not locked into these specific designs,” he says. “That could mean tweaking the design or going with something completely different, whether it’s one of our Sentinel Homes plans or something bespoke. “We want to make each home what the customer wants. Even with the fit out of client homes, we offer the option to use anything else the customer wants outside the very high quality range of products we use, and we will source it and install it.” “We’re thinking about what it’s going to be like to live in these homes and creating that little bit of difference. “
