Encompassing 16 acres purchased from Ngai Tahu, the family owned and operated Lady Wigram embraces a portion of what was once Wigram Airbase, just on the edge of Christchurch. Lady Wigram is the vision of John Tooby, who founded the Golden Healthcare Group, and had previously redeveloped existing retirement villages and care facilities. Having worked on various Golden Age retirement and healthcare projects since 1999, Grace Builders was appointed lead contractor for the extensive Lady Wigram development. “Our engagement to lead the construction of the Lady Wigram Retirement Village was a continuation of the relationship that we had built up with John over many years,” says Tony Posthumas, who along with his brother Graham owns and operates the Christchurch based building company.
