Founded in 2017, the company has rapidly expanded its footprint with locations in Christchurch and Auckland, and representatives across New Zealand. Director Marty Bloy, alongside general manager Trent Spinks and sales and marketing manager Doug Waugh, has grown 43South into a key player in the water filtration and pumping industry. “At the heart of what we do is water movement,” explains Marty. “From manufacturing and assembly in our Christchurch facility to importing and distributing products from global partners, we ensure our clients have the tools they need for effective water movement.” 43South’s products are vital for both large-scale operations and smaller, regional enterprises. The Deloitte Fast 50 category win came as a massive surprise says Marty. “It was our first entry, so we hadn’t really rated our chances. But we went through the application and assessment process and Deloitte were very helpful, as were BNZ.” On awards night all three 43South founders were elsewhere in the country, learning later they had been awarded. “It’s great to come away with a win and it’s truly a testament to our team’s hard work and focus on being innovative, while staying deeply connected to our local communities,” says Marty. “We wouldn’t be where we are today without our people,” he says. referencing the Te Reo proverb, ‘He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata.’ (‘What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.’) The 43South team of 26 employees possess a diverse range of skill sets and capabilities, including six workshop staff, dispatch and warehouse staff, in-house product experts and engineers. Having relocated from Yaldhurst a few months ago, to its current 2300sqm Middleton facility, 43South is equipped with a state-ofthe-art workshop complete with cranes, spray booths, and welding bays. 43South’s low staff turnover is a point of pride, reflecting their emphasis on employee well-being and supportive workplace culture. They also invest heavily in the industry’s future, encouraging apprenticeships for young people seeking a steady and rewarding career path. “The water industry will only continue to grow, and if we don’t bring young people into the industry, it could impact badly the next five to 10 years,” says Marty, “so we’re very proactive in encouraging young people to undertake apprenticeships through the MPTA – the Milking, Pumping and Trade Association.” 43South continues to punch above its weight against much larger competitors, by delivering cutting-edge solutions in partnership with trusted global suppliers including Pentair, Caprari, TECO, Weg and Jung Pumpen.
