Go Wireless NZ: Rangiora Business Hub REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Coinciding with their 20th year in business, Go Wireless NZ founders Dale and Allison Roberts are preparing for an exciting move into spacious, purpose-built premises at the Rangiora Business Hub. Supplying long-range wireless network equipment and IoT hardware, Go Wireless NZ has evolved from a small homegrown operation into a large-scale distributor across the Oceania region including Australia, the Cook Islands, Samoa, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and New Caledonia. Their existing premises on Rangiora’s Kingsford Smith Drive have served them well for the past decade, but the Go Wireless NZ team has tripled in that time (not including six more staff working at sister company Scopious IoT) and more storage space for stock is now urgently needed. too. Covering 13.8ha, the Rangiora Business Hub, near Flaxton Road and the thriving Southbrook commercial area, presented the ideal location for scaling up. “As soon as we heard about it, we signed up for one of the 5000sqm sites,” says Dale. “That was before the plans had even been finalised. We needed the extra space and wanted to invest in Rangiora as it has worked so well for us. “People love to live and work here and that definitely makes it easier to recruit and keep staff. The new motorway [Christchurch Northern Corridor] has been awesome too.” Compared to their existing premises on Rangiora’s Kingsford Smith Drive, the new Go Wireless NZ warehouse (1800sqm) and offices (700sqm) at the Rangiora Business Hub are almost three times bigger. Tuatara Structures is leading the build, on track for completion in June 2025. Stackit is providing an efficient warehouse shelving solution. Dale forged a career as a telecommunications engineer before launching Go Wireless NZ in 2005. He and Allison started out their venture in a shed at home, but their business-to-business, customer-centric approach set a fast growth trajectory. Go Wireless NZ earned a devoted following through going the extra mile for local wireless internet service providers, the backbone of connectivity in rural New Zealand. A partnership with Streakwave Wireless in 2013 has also been pivotal in their success, enabling Go Wireless NZ to offer a lot of new products that would not otherwise have been available in New Zealand. “Of course, if you’re introducing new brands, you’ve also got to provide support and training,” Dale says. “The big distributors don’t do that, but we always have; some brands we introduced to New Zealand 15 years ago are household brands today. We trained the tech community, ran courses and got the manufacturers over to share their knowledge. “Our commitment to pre- and post-sales support is how we have acquired our loyal customer base.” A key part of the Go Wireless NZ operation is running certified training courses to support professional practice in the telecommunications industry. That activity will be well catered for in their new facilities. “We will have a dedicated training room in the new building, as well as customer and staff meeting rooms, sound-proofed pods/quiet room space, and a specialist media production suite for photography and recording tutorials,” says Dale.
