The Pavilion design has been inspired by legendary American architect Frank Lloyd Wright and will form the heart of the village, says Simon O’Dowd, managing director of Qestral Corporation Limited. “We’ve drawn inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright’s principles of organic architecture, creating a space that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings while providing an exceptional living experience,” Simon says. Banbury Park is situated in the historic Halswell area, just nine kilometres southwest of Christchurch city centre. The Pavilion will be a state-of-the-art facility boasting an impressive array of amenities. It will feature a movie theatre, indoor heated swimming pool, spa, restaurant, café, bar, bakery, massage room, hairdressing salon, gymnasium, library and a dedicated wellness centre. It will also include an 18-apartment complex, expanding options for people wishing to make Banbury Park their home. The Pavilion is just one component of the broader Banbury Park development, which spans 14 hectares. Simon says it has been designed to offer a unique living experience that challenges traditional retirement village concepts. Award-winning architect Kerry Mason, a founder of +MAP Architects, who sits on Qestral’s board of directors, has been instrumental in ensuring the development maintains the highest standards of urban design and innovative architecture. “Our goal is to create a community, not just a collection of buildings,” says Simon. “This means no cookie-cutter houses, with most being standalone and available in a good mix of sizes and designs.” Simon describes the design of Banbury Park as modern and distinct, with wider roads than standard villages, and greater space between houses. The concept is to create a complex that is open and expansionary and not intensified. There is a large amount of garden and green space around each home, with innovative landscaping designs and use of sculptures and other features to give each home a distinctive look. The development offers a diverse range of housing options, including nine houses currently under construction, with two- and three-bedroom designs, and single- or double-garage configurations. Each home features walk-in wardrobes, generous ensuites, tiled entranceways and French doors opening to living and dining areas.
