BUILDING Rothwell Construction T T Russell Fredric The challenge of bringing people’s vision to reality based on a passion for craftsmanship is a prime motivator for Rothwell Construction owner Sam Brook. Sam launched the business in 2022, and is supported by a qualified builder and an apprentice. Going out on his own and starting a business was something of a self-challenge for Sam. “I’d always thought I would like to give it a go, and for my family a bit more than I could do just on wages.” Despite this desire to carve his own path, Sam concedes he “kicked the can down the road” for quite some time until someone gave him a good nudge to commit. Today, he is thriving on both the challenges and satisfaction of operating Rothwell Construction, creating custom, high-quality homes, renovations and additions that reflect the unique vision and lifestyle of each client. Based in Rolleston, Rothwell Construction carries out projects on a no-surprises basis, with a preliminary pricing service providing certainty for each client’s budget. “We run through every aspect of the project with you, so we’re on the same page from the beginning. We recommend you engage this service as early as possible,” Sam says. While there is a provisional cost, this is waived upon signing a contract for $40,000 or more. “We believe in transparent pricing and honest communication to ensure trust and clarity throughout the building process.” As a result, Sam has developed a reputation for thoroughly researching each project, and for his professionalism and detailed presentation of costing, quotes and timelines. One of Rothwell Construction’s clients describes the company as their “builder of choice” after they were left high and dry when the company they originally engaged as the main contractor for their new house build went into liquidation. Rothwell Construction had been subcontracted by the same company, which was the project manager, and was eventually appointed as the main contractor to complete the client’s stunning high-end, two-level hillside home, which included an outdoor swimming pool. “This turned out to be the best decision we could ever have made,” the client says. For Sam and his team it was a pleasure to complete the build, working closely with subtrades “to finish this family’s beautiful home”. In another project, Rothwell Construction’s craftsmanship was highlighted in a beautifully rustic portico added to an existing house. Featuring schist pillars, timber trusses and supports, and a clay tile roof, the 7.5 metre-long portico leads off the existing lounge, and includes a built-in fireplace that doubles as a barbeque, and is the perfect combination of functionality and aesthetics. “They were wanting to extend their living room into this outdoor area. They wanted to make it an entertaining area; they wanted to be able to close it off in winter and still use it.” [with blinds installed]. Engineered steel work was required for bracing and structural strength, including inside the stone columns, and the original lounge door was replaced with full-width bifolds, while two skylights add light and ambience in addition to providing light into the lounge. Sam’s comment about the result aptly describes his satisfaction of what Rothwell Construction achieved. “I want it in my house.” He adds: “I’ve had lots of positive feedback on it and we shared it on Facebook as well. The owner was ecstatic. She said, ‘we’re going to love this for years and years to come’.” CONSTRUC ION HWELL RO LICENSED BUILDING PRACTITIONERS Building confidence 021 0297 5558 sam@rothwellconstruction.co.nz rothwellconstruction.co.nz • DECKING • RENOVATIONS • FULL HOUSE BUILDS Proud suppliers of Rothwell Construction info@ rstchch.co.nz | 03 375 0700 | www.firstchch.co.nz
