REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Dunedin Airport is celebrating a major achievement after being named Medium Airport of the Year at the 2025 NZ Airports Awards, a distinction that recognises its leadership in regional collaboration, investment, sustainability and destination development. Chief Executive of Dunedin Airport Daniel De Bono says the accolade signals a defining moment not only for the airport but for the wider southern region, highlighting a collective ambition to strengthen connectivity, boost visitor dispersal and support long-term economic prosperity. “This award reflects the collective ambition of the south and the strong partnerships that have been built over the past few years,” he says. “The judges could see there is something special happening in the south.
