Fiordland Homes T T Kim Newth BUILDING Family owned and operated, Fiordland Homes has been constructing quality homes and renovations in Te Anau and the wider Fiordland region for more than 20 years, and is known for providing a reliable, stress-free service for clients. Fiordland Homes was founded by Roger Foote. His son, Brad, completed his apprenticeship with the company and has worked there ever since, taking over the leadership in 2020. “Our family originally moved down from the North Island for the wapiti hunting, fell in love with the place and stayed,” explains Brad, who today employs a skilled team of five, complemented by two crews of contractors. He has recently taken on two apprentices. “But if you’re a qualified builder looking for your next adventure in beautiful Fiordland,” he says, “we’d love to hear from you too!” Through the years, Fiordland Homes has built everything from high-end family homes to first-home builds, holiday homes and various custom projects. Brad and his team take pride in offering a smooth building experience with clear communication and professional project management. As trusted licensed builders, they are committed to delivering cost-effective solutions, energy-efficient design and durable, well-crafted results. Fiordland Homes has been proactive in responding to a growing need for high-quality, affordable housing in Te Anau over recent months, having released ‘The Fiordland Series’ of compact, smart homes. Designed to maximise space, functionality and aesthetic appeal, these are ideal for modern living and are in step with local needs. Named after some of New Zealand’s most iconic wapiti hunting blocks, each pays tribute to the region’s rugged backcountry. “There are five plans, ranging from 22sqm (‘The Wapiti River’) to 121sqm (‘The Wild Natives’), designed in conjunction with Invercargill architectural designers, Fat Hippo Design Group,” says Brad. “A lot of pre-priced homes come with hidden costs. That’s not our way: we’ve priced it all – from flooring to street connections and appliances, so there’s just one price for everything.” Their first Fiordland Series home, the three-bedroom ‘Worsley’ design, was completed in just 18 weeks. By November 2025, the team had completed the second in the series – a two-bedroom ‘Glaisnock’ affordable home, again providing a smart solution for modern living and delivered efficiently on-site. “We’re aiming to make the process even faster, and are working with the council to ensure the consent process is as streamlined as possible,” Brad says. “We currently have another five homes underway in that series. All of them, so far, are being built as holiday homes for clients who had existing sections but were unsure how to start the building process – this is perfect for them. All they need to do is pick a plan and colours, and we then build it for them.” Fiordland Homes has been working closely with Luxmore Developments in Te Anau, with two of the new Fiordland Series homes currently being built there. High-end accommodation is another forte for Fiordland Homes. A stunning example is Tukare Lookout. Completed in 2024, this gorgeous retreat comes with breathtaking views of Lake Te Anau and surrounding mountains.
