While Ross, who came from a Police background, was already a seasoned property developer, Corey had been operating a roofing company and had just commenced his first development in Brockworth Place. “Over the last nine years we have completed hundreds of townhouses, but we are kind of like ghosts — we just work in the background, quietly getting on with the job, doing anything from fifteen to twenty developments a year,” says Corey. “We do a very nice product that we let speak for itself, and that people love to live in. Our kind of business has always focused on those nice, well-established areas of Christchurch.’ Seeking out potential development sites where the locations offer a lifestyle centred around cafes, shopping malls, private schools and Hagley Park, Brockworth Developments’ projects are focused around Merivale, St Albans, Fendalton and Riccarton. “We love being part of Christchurch’s redevelopment. In the future our kids or grandkids can look at what we have done and say dad or granddad was part of that — the buildings will still be standing proud and looking good in many years to come. “As well as townhouses we also do standalone architectural homes, but typically where a large block of land has been purchased and two homes placed on the land.” Proud to support Brockworth Developments AP GROUP LTD Plumbers of fine homes and quality fittings AndyP@xtra.co.nz P 027 228 6729 9b Vanadium Place, Christchurch • Commercial Demolition • Residential Demolition • Site Clearance • Asbestos Removal • Skip Hire • Strip Outs • Raft Specialists • Excavations 03 381 5273 admin@canterburydemo.co.nz www.canterburydemolition.co.nz In the business of laying quality driveways, paths and patios that will last the distance, experience and passion for the task counts for everything and that is where the team at A ordable Concrete and Paving Ltd have the edge. Established in 2000 by father and son team, John and Scott Grant, the Christchurch based business has remained a family owned and operated business with many members of the family making up the team. Operating throughout Canterbury and occasionally stepping outside the region when the project demands, many of A ordable Concrete and Paving’s ifteen teammembers have been with the company for the last ten years. “John and Scott were initially just laying new concrete driveways,” says O ice Manager Anita Boyd. “The Christchurch earthquakes brought a high demand for the removal and replacement of earthquake damaged concrete. To meet the demand we bought a couple of excavators and increased our team, progressing with a combination of new builds and earthquake repairs. While the business is now focused more on new build projects, there are still a number of earthquake related jobs trickling in.” The core of A ordable Concrete and Paving’s work is hard exterior landscaping including concrete driveways, paths and patios. Anita says exposed aggregate concrete is the most popular surface because it is hard wearing and can be rejuvenated to look like new again. “But we do coloured concrete, stamped concrete and plain concrete. Preparation along with experience is the key to laying good concrete. Laying concrete is not a trade as such, but experience counts for everything to achieve a quality job that will last the distance. There can be very high turnover of sta in this industry and we have been very fortunate to hold on to good employees who have become very experienced in what they do and the di erent situations they encounter.” Working for group home builders, smaller independent builders and home owners, A ordable Concrete and Paving also prides itself on the solid relationships it has established with its customers over two decades. “We are very busy at the moment and all forecasts from the building companies that we contract to are that there will be a lot of homes will be built this year.” Anita says being a family owned business means people enjoy being at work and want to do a high quality job for the customer, and that re lects on the business.
