Cohesive Construction is part of the Cohesive Group with Cohesive Design and Cohesive Homes. Together they offer a one-stop-shop design and construction business with seven branches in the South Island completing about 200 builds every year. Cohesive is a family owned and operated business started by the Lynch family in Ashburton in 2015. The Lynches became the South Island’s sole distributor of Wide Span Sheds, a range of cold rolled New Zealand steel buildings with site specific pre-engineering and designed for New Zealand’s unique environment, weather, and ground conditions. “We have unrivalled knowledge and experience in constructing cold rolled steel framed sheds, from garages to warehouses to aircraft hangars and everything in between,” says Cohesive marketing manager Ayesha Harnett. “We specialise in truly customised buildings and we have built them all.” Cohesive has recently been working in Ashburton for farm machinery dealer Cochranes, delivering a purpose-built 1220sqm warehouse with showroom, office, and mezzanine floor. The showroom has been designed to cater for all manner of agricultural and farming machinery to enter and fit within the floor. “A key feature for the project was the aluminium joinery,” Ayesha says. “As it is a showroom, it was important for the machinery on display to be seen from the main road, with minimal obstructions impeding the view. “We managed to achieve this by having external glazing around the majority of the showroom, which had the least amount of aluminium framing as possible.” Further north in Christchurch, Cohesive has built a 1550sqm warehouse and service centre plus two-storey office for traffic management firm TRU Group. This project had a tight timeframe for Cohesive to meet with the client’s previous lease coming to an end before the project’s practical completion. Even this couldn’t throw the Cohesive team, who completed and handed over the warehouse while the office was still in the construction stage. Then at Kairua Road within the well-established Hornby South industrial and commercial precinct, Cohesive has completed three new builds concurrently. “This allowed us to best utilise our staff and our contractors between the projects without long travel times, therefore keeping the costs down,” Ayesha says. The three projects were all purpose designed and built warehouses with office blocks for a rental investment, a race car specialist, and a private investor. “Each had their own design elements and we were able to look after each project from start to finish including design, earthworks, construction, driveway and parking, security, and landscaping.” Working with clients to give them exactly what they need has been a feature of Cohesive since it started. Its Wide Span Sheds are site specifically engineered and custom designed to fit individual requirements and then delivered to site in kit set form.
