We now have a broad customer base from word of mouth and referrals. “While we take on individual jobs, our core clientele are builders who send their clients in to see us. This streamlines the process for the builder by allowing them to delegate this aspect to our team,” explains Design Lead, Megan Verity. This in turn makes the build process run smoothly and reduces any stress for their clients. “Our team of architectural designers sit in the same office as VIP Consulting Engineers so we can work in partnership to front foot any tricky areas before there’s a problem,” says Chris. Megan, Chris and their team primarily work on residential projects in Canterbury and in particular Christchurch, Selwyn and Waimakariri, but they have projects all over the country. Their scope of work covers a broad range of projects, from spec builds, first homes, prefabricated buildings, dream homes, renovations, and terraced housing, through to commercial fit-outs and complicated hill jobs. “Our residential projects range from very budget conscious and cost-effective builds to people wanting their forever home. “No matter the budget, we always try to deliver a solution for our clients that is well thought through, practical and enjoyable to live in, as well as being aesthetically pleasing. It can be a juggling act to hit all those points,” says Megan. “We love the variety with no job being the same, as all our clients’ have different priorities.” Growth in satellite areas around Christchurch, such as the Waimakariri and Selwyn Districts, remains strong as people move out of town for bigger sections and to where their money can go further. The demand is also strong for medium density housing in Christchurch which may increase with the introduction of new planning rules in a bid to free up land and address the issue of rising house prices. “Christchurch is seen as a desirable city to move to as housing is slightly more affordable than other main centres. We definitely see people moving to Christchurch for better prices and lifestyle,” says Megan.
