96 | Top award a coup for builder Rangiora builder Elliott Dale took out Canterbury’s Supreme Master Builders’ House of the Year Award under $1 million. BUILDING Daleco Built T T Kim Newth A young Rangiora home building company, Daleco Built, has shot to prominence after scooping Canterbury’s Supreme Master Builders’ House of the Year Award under $1 million, as well as making the 2023 Top 100 national list with two award winning projects. Born and bred in Rangiora, Elliott Dale recalls setting his sights on the House of the Year competition in the days when he was still working for another housing business. After launching Daleco Built four years ago and becoming a member of the Master Builders Association, he was finally able to make good on that goal. Both projects that he entered in this year’s House of the Year competition have achieved multi-award winning success. Making the success all the sweeter is that both homes were built in his hometown, Rangiora. In August, a sleek pavilion-style home by Daleco Built was crowned Canterbury’s Supreme House of the Year under $1 million, as well as winning two regional categories (New Home under $1 million and New Home $500,000 to $750,000), an outdoor living award and a regional gold. This home made the national Top 100 list. Elliott also won Canterbury House of the Year Builders Own Home and a regional gold award for his own stylish twin-pavilion home, and is also in the national Top 100. “We took our whole team and clients to the regional awards night and now have another table booked for the National Awards Gala [Christchurch, 25 November 2023],” says Elliott. “It’s great to have this recognition as it underlines our professionalism. We joined Master Builders primarily so that we could offer their 10-year guarantee in our work as new home build specialists.” These two award winning homes - both featuring over-height ceilings, doors and windows, as well as cleverly positioned skylights - showcase the advantages of pavilion style architecture when done well. “The high pitch makes the rooms feel big and works particularly well in the living/dining/kitchen areas where you want to feel that space above you. Quite a few of our clients really like that too.” From the street, Daleco Built’s regional Supreme House of the Year presents a delightful picture of contrasting symmetry with side-by-side gables – one in dark cladding and the other in light – joined by a contemporary flat-roofed central entranceway. The level of finish throughout this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is impeccable. With its poured in place polished concrete benches and streamlined joinery, the highly functional kitchen exudes character and style. Tucked under the gable roof of the living wing is a gorgeous outdoor room, ideal for year-round entertaining. In his own award-winning home, Elliott also opted for poured in place polished concrete benches in the sleek kitchen. “I have done seven or eight of these now, so have the process down pat!” Creative, stylish and practical, this builder’s own three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is another entertainer‘s dream and, with threecar garaging and drive-through to the back yard, Eliott has space aplenty for both vehicles and storage. Daleco Built’s skilled team of seven is currently busy with new home projects across the region, including at Prestons Parks and developments in Rangiora. “We do housing company work as well – we’re growing well.” 33 West Coast Road • Yaldhurst P O Box 11-227 • Christchurch Phone (03) 342-6044 Fax (03) 342-5939 Email: sales@sbj.co.nz www.sockburnjoinery.co.nz Proud to Support Daleco Built Contact us by calling 03 375 0700 | info@firstchch.co.nz | firstchch.co.nz Get in touch to find out why we’re Daleco Built’s trusted supplier of Aluminium, Thermally Broken & Klima uPVC joinery.
