The company also has one of the largest 4 ½ axis CNC machines in the southern hemisphere, capable of machining items of 2.6m wide by 4m long by 1.8m high, or up to 20 tonnes in weight. “We undertake regular maintenance contract work across the South Island in marine, as well as in the mining and freezing industries.” Marine engineering projects for the company include not only maintenance work, but also engagement in annual surveys and dry dockings. The specialist team can take care of every requirement, right through from overhauling trawl winches, repairing net rollers and winch drums, to installing loading davits and troubleshooting other equipment needs. Vessels serviced and repaired by Wallace & Cooper range from small boats to container ships and foreign-owned super trawlers, along with New Zealand vessels for clients such as Talley’s. While fast turnarounds are critically important, Wallace & Cooper is also proud to stand by its consistent record of quality workmanship.
